After taking a look at several artists featured on Art21, I've decided that Collier Schorr and I have a lot in common when looking for inspiration and in the actual process of art making (photography, atleast). We find inspiration in books and politics (she's heavier on the political side) and create works that are a mix of real-life and fantasy. We both use our friends as models and neither of us quite know how the work is going to turn out when we begin. --Just that we have an idea that we want to communicate and we throw out tendrils to see what triggers our imagination. In one interview she was asked if she can see her photos in her head before she begins and then tries and remakes them. She replied that that usually was'nt the case... that the photo just comes together naturally and would coincide with what a person might expect a stereotypical army photo would look like.
